The wife and I recently celebrated 4 years together this past Sunday. To celebrate we stayed at our favorite Bed and Breakfast (turn down your sound to avoid annoying auto music) down in Springfield, IL. With a double jacuzzi tub, marble fireplace, tasteful decor (none of that floral doily crap for us!), fresh baked cookies, and accommodating staff all for $162 per night how could you go wrong? Plus, it’s situated just on the outskirts of downtown Springfield which means everything is walkable and there’s even an Amtrak station 8 blocks away which is perfect for us non-car owners. It was so nice and relaxing to stay in our usual room in our usual place, but it was a bit sad too knowing it was going to be the last time for at least a few years. We’ve always chosen this place because of it’s proximity to Chicago, but living in California it would be ridiculous to travel all the way back to Springfield for a weekend vacation that doesn’t break the bank. Instead, we will have to find another place. But I want you all to know about it in case you live in the midwest and want a relatively inexpensive romantic vacation getaway. With dinner, drinks, train fare, and room we only spend around $500-600 for 2 nights.

Isn’t it great when you find the perfect B&B? I’m also picky about decor. The last one I stayed in was really nice — fireplace, flat screen TV, king size bed — and the best part was that the breakfast was delivered to our room. Ahhh, what a good couple days.
